ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

 

Sathyabama University was established under section (3) of the UGC Act, 1956. Formerly known as Sathyabama Engineering College established by JEPPIAAR EDUCATIONAL TRUST in 1987, It is a pioneer institute imparting knowledge in the areas of engineering, science, technology and education.

 

The institution's progress and contribution in the field of technical education for over two decades made the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India to grant Deemed University status on 16th July , 2001 and University status on 13th September , 2006 under section(3) of the UGC Act, 1956. Under the dynamic leadership of Honorable Chancellor Colonel Dr. JEPPIAAR and Madam Chancellor Remibai Jeppiaar, the development activities of the University are strengthened to bring fruits of research for the betterment of the society. Through the valuable guidance of Dr.Marie Johnson and Dr.Mariazeena Johnson, Directors, the University has added several achievements and accolades to  its 26 years of existence and for its excellence in creating a society that is humane, inclusive and beneficial to all. 

 

The Department of Chemical Engineering, under the Faculty of Bio and chemical engineering was established in the year 1995 with introduction to Research programme in 2002. 

 

Indian Institute Of Chemical Engineers is a confluence of streams of professionals from academia, research institute and industry. It provides them the appropriate forum for joint endeavors, hand-in-hand, to work for human being through application of chemical engineering and allied sciences.

 

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT & EITCT 2015

 

The Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Bio & Chemical Engineering, Sathyabama University in association with Indian Institute Of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), Chennai regional centre (CRC) presents National conference, EMERGING INTERDISCIPLINARY TRENDS OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY (EITCT 2015) on 4th  & 5th MARCH 2015.

 

EITCT 2015 aims to endorse and accomplish collaborative interdisciplinary research in state-of-the-art methodologies and technologies within the various segments of Chemical Engineering. The conference aims to attract participants with different backgrounds, to promote cross-pollination between different fields of research, hence to render and converse pioneering theories, frameworks, methodologies, tools, and applications.The topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to the innovative ideas and work in the form of research papers, technical reviews and case studies from the following areas. 

 

The department of Chemical engineering offers Bachelor of Technology program in Chemical Engineering and Master of Engineering program in Environmental Engineering. Doctoral programmes in Chemical and Environmental Engineering are also being offered. The department has 17 well qualified and dedicated faculties with a blend of teaching, research and industrial experience. 

 

The Department has undertaken various sponsored and collaborative research and development projects funded by IGCAR, ISRO and MNRE.
